Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Qianlong powder famille verte motif porcelain double gourd vase. The Chinese porcelain potted in a shape of double gourd resemblance, with two bulbous bellies conjoined together, bulbous lower section finishing into a slender bottleneck at the top, suspending a tall cylindrical neck, with a straight opening lip, raised on slightly short splayed foot base and slighty concave. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in famille verte masterfully covered in an even coat of a deep green glaze which terminates at the base to reveal the pure white under glaze. The green glaze creates a mottled effect around the rim which is likened unto the blushing of human skin. The foot rim reveals the cut edges during the making process, and the receded central interior base left white under glaze. Meaning the green family. Developed during the Ming dynasty from multicolored decorations with translucent enamels, applied during secondary firing/s on glazed porcelain. By the end of the 16th century formalized into Wanli wucai - Wanli five color enamels - then further into Kangxi wucai and what now by mostly western scholars is recognized by its French name Famille Verte. The glaze is seamless and gives off a beautiful luster, with the colors maintaining excellent vibrancy. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned. Mark on under base, a six under glazed blue seal script characters reign mark, QianLong Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
