A SMALL PINK LUSTREWARE COMMEMORATIVE PLATE OF BYRON’S FIRST TRIP TO GREECE Leeds and Sunderland, England, early 19th century Commemorating Byron's first trip to Greece (September 1809) on the Spider Brig, of octagonal shape, on circular raised foot, the interior decorated with a black transfer print depicting a young Lord Byron during his first trip to Greece, yellow, red, blue and green pigments overpainted, the sloping rim white with a pattern of flowers in relief, a pink lustre band running all over the edge of the rim, the underside white with a circular label bearing the number '1688' in ink, 15cm diam.
