Giuseppe Diamantini, 1621 – 1705, zug.
THE TRIUMPH DAVIDS
Oil on canvas. Doubled.
100 x 76 cm.
In decorative gilded splendid frame.
Three-quarter portrait of young David with free upper part of his body, presenting his large sword in his left hand. Around the athletic torso a continuous band to which a white cloth is attached and in addition he wears a wide red cape in which he probably hides the decapitated head of Goliath. On his head with long hair a small dark blue headdress with brooch and white feather. He has lowered his head slightly and looks with his dark eyes directly out of the picture. Fine painting in reduced colouring, in which the naked upper part of David's body and the shining sword are particularly emphasized by the light. Retouching. (1220831) (3) (18)
