Marked at the bottom edge of the base "L. Posen" with master stamp and silver stamp 800 with crescent and crown as well as performance model number "168617".
Longitudinally oval basket shape with wickerwork pattern and open-work rim, on a moving base with multiple curvatures in Art Nouveau shapes. On the narrow sides on the left larger youthful female figure with a tight-fitting dress, sitting on a flower, on the right a putto holding up a small bird and on the left a curved ribbon that leads to the edge of the basket. On the long sides winged putti on large anemone blossoms with leaves. On the front and back, on a cloth band in driftwork, engraved inscription "1881/ 4 MARCH/ 1906" and on the opposite side alloyed monogram in Jugenstil letters "HEW". According to the dates a dedication to a 25th anniversary. Overall design and fully plastic figures of high artistic and craftsmanship quality. Removable brass insert inserted in the basket.
The silverware manufacturer Lazarus Posen (later widow) was founded in Frankfurt am Main in 1869 by Brendina Wetzlar, widow of Lazarus Jakob Posen. The silver manufactory was then the most important supplier of Judaica in the late 19th century. The son Jakob L.
