In the corner of a large elegant interior a small family has gathered to make music together. The father, in a dark blue tailcoat with a white shirt with a so-called patricide collar and neck bow, is just about to tune his violin in his hands. He looks slightly down on his young daughter, who is sitting in a long white, highly girded dress on a light brown spinet, with an opened music book in front of her and playing the keys. She has carefully draped hair with a few curls and a fine braces, in addition she wears a large pearl earring and she looks straight out of the picture with her bright blue eyes. On the right side the mother is sitting in a green covered armchair in a darker high girdled robe with a long green scarf over her right shoulder and also carefully draped hair. A little girl in a white dress is handing her a small bouquet of flowers. The mother looks proudly at her big daughter who is playing music. Quality sensitive performance in restrained colours.
