From an elevated position, directly below Virgil's tomb, the view falls on an elevated path along the coast of Posillipo and along the coastal strip to the smoking Vesuvius. A woman wearing a white headdress stands at the wayside and looks out over the wide shimmering sea. On the left side, the high walled garden, two cypresses and two large pine trees rising up into the sky, which loosens from left to right and reflects the southern light of the setting sun in a warm shimmer of light blue and purple tones reflected in the sea.
