Circa 500 BC-200 AD. A ceramic appliqué of a duck's head and neck; accompanied by an old scholarly note, handwritten by W.G. Lambert, late Professor of Assyriology, University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: Terracotta head of a duck, cut off at the base of the neck. 40 x 13 x 31 mm from a larger whole. Ancient Near east, c.500 B.C. to 200 A.D.. 11.8 grams, 40mm (1 1/2"). Property of a London gentleman; acquired in the 1970s; examined by Professor Wilfrid George Lambert FBA (1926-2011) and accompanied by a handwritten signed scholarly note. [No Reserve]
