A carved limestone capital from an arch with carinated base, two addorsed lions crouching with erect tails supporting a curved plinth with rectangular upper, facing bust of a child with fleshy facial features and tousled hair. 25.7 kg, 37cm (14 1/2"). Ex central London gallery; formerly with Piasa, Paris, France, 7th June 2013, lot 17; this lot has been checked against the Interpol Database of stolen works of art and is accompanied by AIAD certificate number no.10222-166462.
