A conical-shaped opaline glass seal with four chamfered and gently tapering collared faces terminating in a longitudinally pierced and tiered ellipsoid knop handle; a rectangular seal cartouche with nasta'liq calligraphy engraved in mirror reverse; dated either 1218AH/1803 or 1263AH/1846; mounted on a custom-made stand. 70.7 grams total, 82mm including stand (3 1/4"). From the private collection of a London gentleman; acquired on the London art market; previously in the private collection of the late Oliver Hoare (1945-2018); Oliver Reginald Hoare, Princess Diana's art dealer, described as arguably the most influential dealer in the Islamic art world.
