A pair of George III silver rounded rectangular sauce tureens and covers by John Robins, London 1802, with acorn finials to the shallow domed covers, twin ram's mask ring handles, engraved with a crest and a shield, each on four ball feet, 16.5cm (6 1/2in) long, 1431g (46 oz) The arms for the GORE family. The blazon: gules, a fesse or between three cross-crosslets fitchee argent (Gore); the crest: an eagle rising, wings addorsed Condition Report: All hallmarks are generally crisp, clear and readable. Engraving is crisp and not rubbed. One cover sits well, the other is almost flush but has a slight gap. They sit well on their feet and don't wobble.
