[Royal interest] A stags tooth set gold stick pin, reputed to have been shot by Prince Albert Victor at Balmoral, 1876, the red stags tooth set as an acorn above textured gold branch and oak leaf setting, dated to the reverse Oct. 2nd 1876., terminal 2.3cm long, 4.1g gross Prince Albert (1819-1861)introduced the German to Britian of tradition mounting stags teeth as acorns with oak leaf detail, with the date of the kill inscribed to the reverse. Albert Victor, Prince, Duke of Clarence and Avondale (1864-1892), was the eldest son of the Prince and Princess of Wales (later Edward VII and Queen Alexandra) and grandson of Queen Victoria. He was born at Frogmore House 8 January 1864, and at his birth was second in line to the British throne. Albert Victor died during the Influenza Pandemic of 1889/1892 at the age of 28, making his brother, Prince George, next in line to the succession after their father.
