Description

A gold coloured diamond bracelet by M. Gérard, the polished pierced rectangular links with brilliant cut diamond set baton links between, approximately 0.48 carats total, signed M. Gérard and numbered SB 823 18, stamped 750 Made In France with French poincons, 16.7cm long 22.8g gross; together with a matching gold coloured bracelet by M. Gérard, numbered SB 818 2, 17cm long, 23.4g In 1968, Louis Gérard founded M Gérard with the help of Jacqueline de Ribes, La Comtesse de Ribes, the French aristocrat and fashion icon, in Paris, at number 8 Avenue Montaigne. Gérard had previously worked as a senior executive at Van Cleef & Arpels. By the end of the 1970s, M Gérard had become one of the largest exporters of French jewellery, with boutiques in the main society locales of Monte Carlo, Geneva, Cannes, Gstaad and London. Having sold the business to American investors in 1985, Louis Gérard opened a new boutique in Paris at 16 Avenue Montaigne in 1988, which closed in 1991. M Gérard jewellery is internationally renowned for using the best possible quality stones in stunningly designed supple jewels. Condition Report: There is light wear to the gold surface, it has a soft bloomed appearance, some light scratches. The clasps have extra safety catches to the ends, making them very secure, there are safety chains, however these are not attached to both ends. The signature on the diamond set bracelet is rubbed and difficult to see, but it is still there, the other bracelets signature is much more clear, both have some rubbing to marks, but readable. Due to the settings it is not possible to check the wear between the links, but they don't feel too loose when the bracelet is moved. Offered for sale with a receipt from M. Gérard, London, dated 23rd November 1984, for the gold and diamond bracelet. Also offered for sale with an Insurance Valuation from M. Gérard, London, dated 21st August 1986, for the gold 'Gourmette' bracelet and a gold and diamond 'Gourmette' bracelet. Condition Report Disclaimer
