An Italian patinated bronze model of Hercules, probably 17th century, the subject portrayed heroically nude, standing with his club raised and his left arm extended, mounted to a veined cream and pink marble socle, 16cm high overall The unusual pose of this model recalls the Etruscan bronze statuettes of Hercules, in which he is often represented with his club raised above one shoulder, while the other arm is extended. A Venetian bronze model of Hercules in a similar pose dated to the 16th century is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum, 64.101.1545.
