A pair of Louis XVI gilt bronze candlesticks, in the manner of Etienne Martincourt, last quarter 18th century, each fluted and acanthus cast nozzle descending to swagged stems with ram monopodia, cast in the style of Atheniennes, descending to a domed circular base cast with further foliage and berries, circa 22cm high, 10.5cm diameter A related design attributed to Martincourt is illustrated in Pierre Verlet, Les Bronzes Dorés Français du XVIII siècle, Picard, 1987, pp. 386-7.
