A pair of George III carved giltwood and gesso wall mirrors, circa 1780, in the manner of Robert Adam, the oval plates of slightly varying proportions, each oval plate within a bead and foliate moulded frame, flanked by foliate scrolls and swags, surmounted by a fluted cresting and a plume of feathers, each 145cm high, 86cm wide For a related pair of mirrors see, Christie's, New York, European and Asian Decorative Arts, 22nd December 1998, Lot 431 ($25,300). Whilst these mirrors are in the manner of Robert Adam, many other prominent designers of the period adopted similar stylistic elements. For a related design of mirror by A.
