A set of twelve Regency mahogany dining chairs, circa 1820, in the manner of Thomas Hope, possibly by Gillows, each curved tablet top rail with ebonised greek key on square supports, the padded and upholstered seats, on turned tapering legs and arrow feet at the front, For a closely related set of ten chairs see, Sotheby's, London Arts of Europe, 3rd July 2012, Lot 223 (£30,000). These chairs are in the Greek Revival style (Gout Grec) popularised by designer and tastemaker Thomas Hope when he published 'A Collection of Designs for Household Furniture and Interior Decoration' in 1807.
