A Victorian black lacquer and gilt chinoiserie decorated settee, circa 1860, decorated with figures in village scenes and scrolling foliage throughout, the triple oval button upholstered back flanked by open arms, above the shaped and upholstered seat and shaped apron, on tapering cabriole legs, terminating in brass caps and timber casters, 112cm high, 198cm wide, 64cm deep overall Condition Report: Minor marks, scratches and abrasions comensurate with age and use. some old losses, some minor old repairs. Some wear and chips of loss to the decorated areas of the frame (see additional images) It would be relatively straightforward for a skilled restorer to 'touch in' chips to the black areas. This has been done in some areas including the very top of two of the uppermost terminals of the back. The uppermost terminal of the right hand side of the back has been repaired and secured with two dowel joints. This is an old repair that has been disguised. The frame is of solid structure overall. The upholstery is in very good clean condition having been recently replaced. Some minor movement between some joins of the frame but remains solid. No old breaks or splicing to the legs. Please refer to the additional images for visual reference to condition. Condition Report Disclaimer
