A FINE GEORGE V SILVER-GILT AND JADE DESK SET, by Charles Boyton, London 1935, comprising ink stand, with two clear-glass lined ink pots, central rectangular pot with carved jade fruiting tree to hinged cover, the two triangular handles inset with carved jade plaques, the foliate border with applied floral sprigs to the corners, together with a desk blotter with carved jade Shishi finial, paper weight with similar carved final and green onyx base, and a letter opener, with carved jade plaque inserts to the handle, all pieces hallmarked and paperweight also with inscribed Charles Boyton signature. Hinges to ink stand all sound, outer two to ink pots with very slight wobble. Repair to back right corner of top strapwork foliate border. Letter opener blade squint, with nicks to blade edge and bent tip. Rectangular jade surround pieces to inkpot lid, blotter and paperweight handles all with various cracks. Gilding lightly rubbed to pen well. Light surface scratches and tarnishing throughout, commensurate with age and use
