A William & Mary carved giltwood wall mirror, circa 1690, the pierced frame incorporating putti, flowers and birds, the surmount centred by the arms of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, 103cm high, 75cm wide Provenance: Private Collection, The Manor House, Stanford in the Vale, Oxfordshire The Most Noble Order of the Garter is the oldest and most senior Order of Chivalry in Britain, founded by Edward III in 1348.
