A Charles II oak chest of drawers, circa 1680, 82cm high, 94cm wide, 54cm deep Provenance: Private Collection, The Manor House, Stanford in the Vale, Oxfordshire Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Old chips and splits. Evidence of old worm. Two of the backboard replaced. Later tape applied to backboards, this has fraying and has become detached in places. Feet are later replacements. Gaps between the boards of the top opening slightly. Handles replaced but in period taste. Lock plates vary from one another. The lock to the middle drawer appear original, the others are 18th century replacements. No key present, all locks are open. Some darker marks and ring marks to top.
