A George I walnut and feather banded bureau, circa 1720, the fall front opening to an arrangement of twelve drawers above a slide and well, 91cm high, 57cm wide, 33cm deep Provenance: Private Collection, The Manor House, Stanford in the Vale, Oxfordshire Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Old splits and chips. Some sections of replacement veneer and some sections re-stuck. Various cracking and losses to veneers of back. Key present and operates locks to fall and two drawers. The lock to the lowest drawer is seized and will require some attention. Later shiny paper lining has been applied to interiors of drawers. Some evidence of old worm. Metalware appears original.
