A carved wood and silvered oval wall mirror, second half 18th century, probably Spanish Colonial, possibly South American, 122cm high, 76cm wide Provenance: Collection of a Titled Gentleman, London Condition Report: Marks, scratches and abrasions, old chips and splits comensurate with age and use. Some old losses, including to various areas of the gesso surface. Some areas throughout of lifting/ flaking/ fragile to the surface. The mirror plate has some age but is a later replacement. The main elements of the rear panel are possibly original. They are clean in appearance generally but may have been covered by paper for a period. The vertical board supporting the main rear panels is likely associated but has age. Signs of old repairs to the frame, particularly from the reverse where some are supported by glued down material.
