A matched pair of George III night commodes, circa 1780, the slightly larger example 79cm high, 53cm wide, 46cm deep, the other 77cm high, 54cm wide, 45cm deep Condition Report: Marks, scratches and abrasions comensurate with age and use. old chips and splits. some old repairs some small losses. Metalware to each appears original, although the bulbous handle to one may possibly be a period replacement. To the same example there is old worm damage, there are old wrom holes visible throughout the drawer front and in some other areas. One castor of the same example has been replaced with a later brown porcelain example. The drawer of each has been later adapted to operate as a normal drawer as is often seen. The tops appear to have been re-polished. There is a split across the top of one (example with bulbous handle) and a small amount of filler used to disguise small loss.
