A George IV burr oak, ebony and ebonised clothes press, circa 1825, in the manner of George Bullock, the panel doors opening to a hanging rail and four removable shelves, 240cm high, 133cm wide, 63cm deep Condition Report: Marks, scratches and abrasions comensurate with age and use. old chips and splits. some old repairs some small losses. Drawer handles appear to be period or slightly earlier replacements. Solid mahogany drawer linings throughout. Locks appear original to drawers and key present. Additional deep scratches to the front edge of the top of edge of the base section. Upon close inspection there are a number of finely crafted details to the press, including the inclusion of some ebony elements and the fine construction of the decorative spheres to the cornice. A later hanging rail has been added to the interior. The flat interior shelves may be replacements but the timber appears to be of the period.
