A PAIR OF SEVRES STYLE COMPOTES, EARLY 20TH CENTURY of shell form, the pair of compotes feature a turquoise merman with gold detail blowing a large spiral conch shell. four similar scenes of a young siren with a cherub flank either side of the shell. the shell in dark cobalt features red, white and blue gemstones creating a foliate scroll pattern, each scene is surrounded by red gemstones and gold detail. the shell rests atop an animalistic head matching the merman in color with gold details. the square base features four conch shells with gold detail. facsimile blue interlaced L mark under each base; overall height: 27 cm (10 5/8 in.), dimensions of base: 10 x 6.9 cm (4 x 2 3/4 in.) CONDITION The compotes are in age-appropriate condition. Overall dust is visible to the naked eye most notably on the merman's lap. several red gemstones are missing from the border around the siren scenes. Two small chips to the shell footing on one of the compotes. Inspection under UV shows no apparent signs of restoration or repairs. Otherwise no other issues to report. N.B.
