A FRENCH ORMOLU-MOUNTED SEVRES STYLE PORCELAIN VASE, KARL MAX, LATE 19TH-EARLY 20TH CENTURY in Art Nouveau taste, of ovoid form, centered with a bust-length profile portrait of a young brunette in a red cap in the manner of JEAN-JACQUES HENNER (FRENCH 1829-1905), against a turquoise ground with interlacing blooming gilt lillies, the cover with pinecone finial, atop a round plinth, signed Karl.Max lower left recto, marked with apocryphal blue underglaze interlaced L date and maker's mark, origin mark FRANCE under cover; overall height: 100 cm (39 in.) CONDITION The vase is in age-appropriate condition. Rubbing to the finial has resulted in loss of the gold and visible white. Inspection under UV no apparent signs of restoration or repairs.
