A SMALL JAPANESE EARTHENWARE VASE, MATSUMOTO HOZAN, DAI NIPPON, KYOTO, MEIJI ERA, TAISHO PERIOD (1879-1926) of rounded squat form, featuring two hand-painted scenes one with figures in a garden setting, the border features a continuous floral motif with intricate gold detailing and patterns, the other scene is of bamboo, butterflies and camellia's, the neck of the vase features a continuous scallop motif with gold detailed patterns, workshop mark in gilt in a square panel with painter's mark above all under base; overall height: 11 cm (4 3/8 in.) CONDITION The vase is in age-appropriate condition. With overall craquelure visible to the naked eye. There is some light chipping of paint around the base of the vase. Inspection under UV shows no apparent signs of restoration. No other issues to report otherwise. N.B. All lots are sold in as-is condition at the time of sale.
