Condition report: Frame: 31 5/8 x 41 3/4 x 3 1/2 in. The unlined canvas in overall fair to good condition. The surface of the work appears slightly dusty and might benefit from a (very) light cleaning. With very light, diagonal craquelure, mostly visible in the sky. Examination under UV light reveals some (if not most) of the aforementioned craquelure have been meticulously inpainted. Some minor, scattered restoration (pinpoint-like) in the sky, especally at upper right corner. The two main areas of restoration are a 2 1/2 in. long scratch at upper center in the sky, and a repaired tear (about 3 x 3 in.) at center, just above the castle. Some older restoration seen on the castle tower and nearby (in the river). With remnants of old greenish varnish in the bottom corners (where the darkest, green areas are). With some restoration at bottom let corner, at bottom center along the outer edge of the canvas. The bottom right quadrant seems relatively untouched, except for a small area of inpainting on one of the trees close to the right outer edge. See Specialist's pictures for more details.
