此件玉环以和阗白玉籽料雕成，玉质细腻白润，宛如羊脂。器呈长椭圆形扁环，环体中部饱满隆起，内外缘较扁，并刻有阴线边栏。器表正反皆以阴刻如意纹及卷云纹组成抽象的兽面纹。长边一侧兽面较大，小眼，卷眉，巨鼻，大口，尖耳。短边一侧装饰小兽面，仅装饰眼、鼻、口。阴线琢刻细致流畅，宛若游丝，此种雕琢装饰手法为典型的清代乾隆时期官造技法。
玉绦环为系丝绦之用，佩之以祈福，出自明代汪廷讷《种玉记·赠玉》：“谁料那福星的玉绦环，禄星的玉拂麈、寿星的紫玉杖，一一都在桌上。”《红楼梦》第七八回亦有记载：“王夫人一看时，只见扇子三把，扇坠三个，笔墨共六匣，香珠三串，玉绦环三个。”可见当时绦环是达官贵族随身佩戴用以装饰祈福的器物。整器精致灵巧，工料俱佳，实为珍品。
