Winters collection It is unusual to find a yi vessel cast with an entire surface of horizonal ribs. Among this relatively rare vessel, made for the ritual washing of hands in conjunction with a pan, it is normal to find a band of stylized dragons or scales cast above this ribbed band. See a yi vessel with a dragon band sold at Christie's New York, 20 Sept 2000, sale 9476, lot 167.
