A Large Classical Giltwood Overmantel Mirror Circa 1825 The rectangular beveled mirror plate flanked by two acanthus-wrapped columns surmounted by a frieze incorporating flowerheads and scrolls, centered by a scallop shell. (H: 72, W: 70, D: 7 1/2 in.) Provenance Collection of Robert & Barbara Safford, Vaux Hill, Audubon, Pennsylvania. Freeman’s, Philadelphia, September 25, 2013, lot 86. Acquired directly from the above sale. Private Collection, Long Island, New York. Condition report: Minor hairline cracks in sections, most notably in the cornice, and areas of flaking gilt. One loss to ornament to the spiral garland at near the midpoint of the right column.
