A Pair of George III Sterling Silver Armorial Trays John Crouch I & Thomas Hannam, London, 1791 Each engraved with 'HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE' in a garter encircling a crowned lion surmounting a crown, the garter surmounted by a crown. (H: 1 1/4, W: 10 1/2, D: 7 1/2 in. Weight: 34.5 oz. t.) Provenance Gifted to George Hamilton upon his diplomatic appointment to Philadelphia. Thence by descent. Private Collection. Exhibition History Freeman's, Philadelphia, Loyalties in Revolutionary Times, March-July 2018. Condition report: Wear consistent with age and use, including light to moderate surface scratches, oxidation present to crevices, rubbing to engraving and edges.
