English and Continental School 18th Century A group of four portrait miniatures Comprising two portrait miniatures of gentleman, the English miniature engraved 'J. Bogle 1785,' with gilt and enamel clasp surround, the Continental miniature with gilt pendant surround, watercolor; and two portrait miniatures of ladies, both English, one miniature with painted playing card backing, gilt clasp surround, the other miniature with pendant surround inset with paste stones, watercolor. Condition report: Continental portrait miniature of gentleman with crack to right side, and apparently with replaced silk back; lady in case with paste stone surround: a few missing paste stones to ribbon at top, minor tarnishing to case; lady with playing card backing: miniature slightly bowed upward, replaced case/pin, which is loose and not completely flush; gentleman, inscribed "J. Bogle": good condition, with later loop clasp tied with thread
