A black-lacquer four-case inro By Koami Tadamitsu, 19th century The vertical rectangular body with a rich roiro ground, lacquered with mura-nashiji and decorated with tea pickers at work on one side, a huge bridge overhung by a weeping willow, spanning the Uji river on the other, in the background a lake and and high mountains shown in the morning mist, in delicate gold and coloured togidashi maki-e, the interior of rich nashiji, signed Koami Tadamitsu; with a gilt metal ojime, carved and pierced with millet, inscribed Tomei. 8.2cm (3¼in).
