A Yamimaki-e (black-on-black) lacquer three-case inro 19th century The rich roiro (black lacquer) ground decorated in black low relief with a different mon (crest) among elaborate karakusa ('Chinese grasses'), a mamuki usagi (rabbit staring ahead) crest on one side and a mitsu-fusen-cho (triple butterfly) crest on the other, the interior of plain black lacquer with gold edges; unsigned. 7.6cm (3in) high.
