A wood netsuke of a cockerel in a drum By Naito Toyomasa (1773-1856), early 19th century The drum of circular form, the sides with a band of mokume within two bands of studs carved in relief, the cockerel carved in fine detail to one side, its tail erect and its one visible eye inlaid; signed Toyomasa. 4.5cm (1¾in).
