A copper and shakudo netsuke of a cicada After Murakami Jochiku, 19th century The insect resting with its wings drawn in its body, its head of patinated copper and its wings of shakudo with finely inlaid veins of gold and silver honzogan, a silver loop beneath forming the himotoshi; inscribed Jochiku. 4.8cm (1 7/8in) long. Footnotes: リザーブ設定無し 金工根付 蝉 銘「如竹」 19世紀 Murakami Jochiku (died circa 1790-1800) was a metalworker who lived in Edo and was renowned for his sword fittings.
