A black-lacquer four-tier cabinet for storing inro By Koma Kansai, 19th century Consisting of four stacked trays with a rich roiro ground, the cover with a gold-lacquer panel decorated with the corner of a courtly dwelling, a broad stream flowing through a garden and plum and pine trees and a woven fence in the foreground, in gold takamaki-e, with profuse highlights of e-nashiji and kirikane, the interior of roiro and the rims mounted with silver, each tray fitted for three inro with attached netsuke, inscribed On-inrobako (Inro box) and signed Koma Kansai saku; with a brocade cover and wood storage box. 23cm x 34cm x 17.8cm (8 5/8in x 13 3/8in x 7in).
