A black-lacquer square tray 19th century Supported on four bracket feet, embellished in gold and iro-e hiramaki-e and togidashi maki-e with a spool of thread, sprigs of leaves and tanzaku papers hanging from bamboo branches resting on a bamboo fence, symbols alluding to the Tanabata Festival, a wash basin placed atop a wood stand in the foreground; with details of kirikane, the underside similarly lacquered in the centre with a spray of chrysanthemums; unsigned. 3.2cm x 21.5cm x 21.5cm (1¼in x 8½in x 8½in).
