A late 19th Century Japanese large papier mache jardinière / planter of bulbs tapering urn form having a large lipped rim with floral detailing. Ebonised ground with scenes of elders and geishas in garden scenes with further floral and landscape decoration. All raised upon a painted and gilt highlighted five legged stand having scrolled supports united by shaped central stretchers. Wear commensurate with age throughout with wear to the paint work and damage to the papier mache. Measures approx; 76cm x 59cm.
