A PAIR OF LOUIS XV PATINATED AND GILT BRONZE PRESSE-PAPIERS CIRCA 1760 With opposing boy and girl putto figures on stepped scrolling bases 15.5cm high, 19cm wide An almost identical pair of these presse-papiers (paperweights) were sold by Sotheby's, New York, 20th April 2018, Lot 1033 ($5,250). Condition Report: There are marks, knocks, scratches, scuffs and abrasions consistent with age and wear, some to the extremities and edges. The mottled patination slightly variable between the figures; one bronze and dark patinated; the other bronze and red/brown patinated (possibly cleaned) and this figure has two later screw fixings with square bolts to the underside that have dented the base. The fingers of all the figures are short but this may be how they were cast. Some gilding rubbed to the gilt bronze. Please refer to the additional images for a visual reference of condition.
