TWO 18TH CENTURY FRENCH PATINATED AND GILT BRONZE PRESSE-PAPIERS The first with child and dog, probably Louis XVI, circa 1780 18cm wide, 13.5cm high The second with two children, one holding a laurel wreath, probably slightly earlier 21cm wide, 13cm high Condition Report: There are marks, knocks, scratches, scuffs and abrasions consistent with age and use, some to the extremities and edges. The figure with the dog has a construction seams visible to the arms; some joins visible to the gilt metal. The bronze with a variable brown patination with darker patination to recesses. The underside with screws to the gilt metal base (lacking one screw); from the marks on the screws the base looks to have been removed and replaced at some stage but I have not removed it for this condition report. The group of two figures has a separately cast wreath which is not quite full engaged and moves slightly in the hand of the child. The black patination has been worn, almost chipped off in some areas, to protruding areas revealing the underlying bronze. The gilt metal scroll base has some small fractures/cracks. From the marks on the screws the base looks to have been removed and replaced at some stage but I have not removed it for this condition report.
