A SET OF EIGHT MAHOGANY DINING CHAIRS IN THE MANNER OF GILLOWS, CIRCA 1820 AND LATER Each with a bar back above X-shaped spat, some rails initialled by the chair maker 'WD' each 85cm high, 50cm wide, 52cm deep Provenance: Some with labels for 'Antique Dealers Fair Exhibition, JH GILLINGHAM' where previously purchased. Condition Report: There are marks, chips, scratches, repairs and abrasions consistent with age and use. There is significant re-railing of chairs, some entirely, and one repair dated 1990. Some crest rails of the chairs have been re-fixed with visible repairs, some repairs elsewhere, see images. There are scratches and knocks in particular to the legs and feet. Some fading. There is an unusual design feature of a 'dimple' to the top of each reed of the tapering legs, to the top of the back uprights and on the elbow chairs to the base of the reeds on the tapering arm supports.
