But for the identification of calligraphy and painting, "there is always a time to cater to those who like it." Gong calligraphy, although not catching his father, but like the children of the king and Xie family, it has its own style. He and his father Mi Fu are both collectors and connoisseurs. His landscape paintings were completely out of the ancients, developed the Mi Fu technique, and became a self-contained method. The paintings are horizontally dotted with ink and water, and dotted into pieces, although they are made in a hasty but innocence, each painting is self-titled as "ink play". He used the expression method of "luoqihu" (ie, "rice dots") and rendering to express the natural feelings of mountains and rivers, known as "Mijia Shanshui", which had a greater influence on the later "literati paintings".
