AN EXTREMELY RARE CANTON ENAMEL SNUFF BOTTLE WITH HIDDEN OPIUM BOX, QING DYNASTY China, 1644-1912. The flat foot can be unscrewed and removed, revealing it to be a silvered metal cylindrical opium container and cover, the false bottom visible within the bottle. The ovoid body rising to a waisted neck, the sides with central roundels enclosing neatly enameled figural scenes, surrounded by diapered designs and auspicious symbols, with foliate bands above the foot and below the neck.
