The Property of a Lady 女士藏品 A HONGMU AND BURLWOOD LOW CIRCULAR TABLE 19th century The table with a fine burlwood top set within a circular frame above a narrow waist and cusped, beaded aprons finely carved with archaistic chilong designs, the whole raised on beaded ruyi cabriole legs ending in upturned feet. 100cm (39 3/8in) diam. x 36cm (14 1/8in) high. 注脚 十九世紀 紅木嵌癭木圓矮几 This unusual circular table was probably used to support a large vessel or drum. Compare with a similar low circular stand, supported on cabriole legs and carved with lion masks and scrolling tendrils, illustrated by R.H.Ellsworth in Chinese Furniture: One Hundred Examples from the Mimi and Raymond Hung Collection, New York, 1996, pp. 124-125, no. 42. Compare with a related huanghuali circular low table, 18th/19th century, which was sold at Christie's New York, 19 March 2021, lot 835.
