A mid-20th century Iranian (Persian) silver sahan, Isfahan circa 1950 mark of Farkadyani Of compressed oval form, raised on a spreading oval foot. The detachable lid with centrally domed section terminating in a pointed pyriform finial. The body and lid with chased and engraved ghalam zani decoration of a continuous frieze depicting figures serving food and libations against townscapes and trees. The body with a band of chased arabesques underneath figural scene and the lid edged with a band of trailing scrolls against a matted ground. Marked underneath base with standard mark combined with workshop mark. The lid unmarked. Length – 18 cm / 7 inches
