λ A NEAR PAIR OF HARDWOOD IVORY-INLAID ANGLO-INDIAN TIERED TEA TRAYS Possibly Vizagapatam, Andhra Pradesh, India, mid to late 19th centuryλ A NEAR PAIR OF HARDWOOD IVORY-INLAID ANGLO-INDIAN TIERED TEA TRAYSPossibly Vizagapatam, Andhra Pradesh, India, mid to late 19th century Each of similar shape, with three interspaced octagonal trays, each with shallow centre and flattened rim, inlaid with ivory rosettes, geometric patterns, and floral and vegetal bands, resting on two bracket volute-shaped feet, each with an arched handle at the top and tall wooden frames flanking the dishes to keep them in place, with a third wooden bar on one side of the dishes to fold them away, the shape and design clearly influenced by Western traditions and uses showcasing the vibrant mixture of styles witnessed in 19th-century Anglo-Indian furniture production, each approximately 79.5cm x 25.8cm.
