铭文：枝高出手寒
款识：“嘉庆二十年八月口”“用之为墨卿”“墨卿” 说明：砚式随形，取材端石。砚面平坦无纹，起窄沿，砚背阴刻梅花纹，刀笔自然，刻画入微。梅树下方阴刻数十字隶书铭文。墨卿一是作文人的别名使用，另一个是墨的戏称，此处应是前者。唐代孟浩然有《送袁太祝尉豫章》诗：“随牒牵黄绶，离羣会墨卿。”宋代叶适有《徐道晖墓志铭》：“发今人未悟之机，回百年已废之学，使后复言唐诗自君始，不亦词人墨卿之一快也！”清代王夫之有《南岳赋》：“墨卿韵留于金石，琴客曲写其猗兰。”
