A LARGE LATE GOTHIC GROUP OF ST. MARTIN AND THE BEGGAR Flanders or Netherlands, mid 16th century H. 100 cm Saint Martin with a plumed hat and in the dress of a nobleman on a striding horse, the beggar at his feet with an expressive face. Oakwood, worked in full round. Later polyhcromy with retouching. One of the beggar's feet is missing. Partial additions to the extremities, left horse ear and bridle missing, sword probably later. Slight age damages and restorations. Very good sculptural work. Private collection Aachen, assembled between the 1950ies and the 1970ies.
